About Me

It is my husband’s desire that I use a pen name on the internet, and since White is a name from my family tree, I generally use Sharon White. But I also use “Snow White”, so please don’t be confused if you see this in the comments or postings. I have been linked to Snow White for so long that it has become a kind of nickname . Numerous people (even a child as young as five!) have stopped me in public places to say, “Do you know who you remind me of?”, and most of the time I know the answer before it comes out of their mouths! It does not seem to matter what I wear or how long or short my hair is, something about me causes people to think of Snow White (I hope it is not my voice!).  It has sort of become a family joke.  But in another respect, Snow White is an accurate reflection of who I am. The Bible says in Isaiah 1:18, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow”. Since I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, the Bible assures me that the blood He shed on my behalf has removed from me the stains of my sin, and I can now stand before God “as white as snow”.  In this, I am truly “Snow White.”  Since I believe that He gave me all the talents that I have, it is my desire to use those talents for Him.  I could not do any of the things posted in this blog were it not for Him.  1 Corinthians 10:31 is my goal –-“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God”.

While I have been a crafter in some sort or other all my life, crafting with trash has been a wonderful experience because it has allowed me to work with free materials to create things that my family needs, and it has kept all that trash out of the landfill. I realize that there is not a way for me to up-cycle or re-purpose all the trash that my family can generate, so I still believe in taking the overflow to the re-cycling center, but it is a great thing when I can make something worthwhile out of items that would normally be tossed out.  I do not possess the computer skills to create an incredible blog with personalized backgrounds and the latest technological gadgetry so this blog will have to stand on its content. I have no aspirations of building a huge Internet presence! 🙂 My purpose in blogging is simply to share my ideas with others in the hopes that they too will be able to live more frugally  and creatively, and to be an encouragement and a blessing to others.

    Thank you for your Blog.
I think you are amazing with all you do.
If 20% of people did 20% of what you do, waste sites would be 70% less I guestimate.

Just wanted to say Hello and say that I like your site very much. I’m a big recycler as well but I am nowhere to the point of your projects. I’m always thinking “reduce reuse recycle” but I like your saying even better ” new life new purpose”. I’m also a Christian and pray each day that God helps me to always be of a help to others. I do a lot of different crafts but since I haven’t excelled at one specific craft, I felt like all my work wasn’t good enough. I just read where you mentioned that your gift came from God. I guess I never considered that my abilities to craft were from Him since they only gave “me” enjoyment. Thanks to your words, I finally got the answer for my inner struggle on my crafting. Keep up the good work!

    • Robin, Thank you for your encouraging words to me! I am glad to know that your spirit was uplifted. Yes, I do believe that everything about me -my personality, my physical features, and my talents- were all given to me by my Creator and not the result of random chance. Paul asks this of the the Corinthians in I Cor. 4:7, “… and what hast thou that thou didst not receive?” And I can’t read Psalm 139 and not know that I was designed to be who I am. As a Christian, I am to use all the things I have been given -great or small- to be a blessing to others and give glory to my God. And isn’t wonderful that there is enjoyment for us in using the talents He has given us?! He is such an awesome God! 🙂

I just found your blog, today! Wow, what a neat talent and creativity you have! Really enjoyed reading through your current and past posts and look forward to future ones. Also looking forward to trying out some of the “new life new purpose” crafts-especially the baby bibs! I make “reborn baby dolls” and would love to try to make the bibs for them as they aren’t “real” and won’t try to put the bibs in their mouths, etc, so no harm there. Thanks for doing this blog and sharing your ideas/projects and love for God!

    • Christina, I am glad that you found my blog useful and enjoyable. I am hoping to be able to get back to blogging a bit more in the future. I have a number of project ideas, I just need time to get to them and then access to our computer to record them. I hope your bibs turn out well. Your project sounds like an excellent use for them.
