I have returned to an ongoing challenge for me, that of finding useful things to do with hard plastic lids! There are so many different sizes, shapes and colors that I can’t help but think that there have to be lots of crafting opportunities here. This pill/small-parts tower came to my mind after contemplating the size and available colors of bottled juice lids. I do not use all the products that come in the packaging that I use in this blog, but I have so many people saving their trash for me (THANK-YOU! :)) that I was able to come up with a number of different color juice lids. Making this was really very simple. I took each set of same-color lids and made a small trinket box like I did for the plastic -lid gift boxes post. Then I attached the boxes together using double-sided duct tape. I could have used glue as well, but the duct tape is cleaner to work with and has been holding up very well. I do not think this would be a good way to store a number of tiny, heavier objects since the lids are not tightly secured they way they would be on a stacking tower with screw-type lids, but it makes a wonderful pill tower or storage for things like jewelry or children’s small treasures. This would be a good craft for a children’s groups.
